Mini electric pumps have transformed roadside inflation. They replace a bulky hand pump with a pocket-size device that can measure pressure, inflate a tire and stop automatically. But the next design question is becoming just as important as size and pressure: what happens when the battery reaches the end of its useful life?

The NEWO BL09 series answers that question with a removable battery architecture. It combines everyday cycling performance with a product design direction that supports longer service life, easier battery replacement and more responsible end-of-life handling.

01 · Why the Design Matters

Europe Is Moving Toward Replaceable Portable Batteries

Article 11 of Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 introduces requirements for portable batteries incorporated into products to be readily removable and replaceable by the end user. The provisions apply from 18 February 2027, subject to the regulation’s definitions, instructions, safety conditions and applicable derogations.

This direction is about more than opening a battery door. It is intended to help products remain useful for longer, make replacement more practical and support better collection and recycling of used batteries. The European Commission describes replaceability as an important step toward extending product life and reducing post-consumer waste.

02 · Smart Inflation

Preset the Pressure, Then Let Auto Stop Take Over

An integrated high-precision pressure sensor measures tire pressure while the LED display shows the actual and preset values. Riders can adjust the target with the plus and minus keys and switch between PSI and BAR.

Once the target is reached, the pump stops automatically. This creates a clearer, more approachable experience for riders who do not want to judge pressure by feel.

03 · Cycling Performance

Small Enough for the Ride, Capable Enough for the Tire

The compact housing measures 73 × 52 × 33 mm and weighs approximately 130.8 g. Inside, a brushless motor, 15 mm cylinder and measured 24 L/min airflow support a pressure setting range of 2–120 PSI.

The removable 2S 500 mAh, 7.4 V battery pack includes NTC temperature sensing, while the protection design includes balancing and over-voltage protection. Charging is through a Type-C port with a 5 V/2 A input.

Ready for Presta, Schrader and Ball Inflation

The accessory configuration supports common Presta and Schrader bicycle valves and includes a ball needle for sports equipment. The hose improves access around spokes and different valve positions.

A Type-C charging cable, English manual and storage pouch complete a compact kit that is easy to keep in a bike bag, backpack or vehicle.
